How to download and order MSDNAA software

MSDNAA software is available for Cuyamaca College students enrolled in at least one class in CIS Department.

Your MSDNAA account will be created by the third week of the semester so you can have access to the software titles.

Below are the steps to obtain a copy of Access 2007. Other titles which are available for download will follow the same steps.
Some titles are only available for purchase at the highly discounted MSDNAA price.

  1. Retrieve your MSDNAA userid and password from your college email account by click on the campus e-mail link.

    If you don't see the email from the MSDNAA program and you have never taken a CIS class before at Cuyamaca
    then you need to verify that your instructor has requested that your class have MSDNAA accounts.

    If you have previously taken a CIS class then you may need to have your password reset and sent to you.
    If you need your password reset then send an email from you student email account to cheryl.alvarez@gcccc.edu including
    1. the class you are currently enrolled in,
    2. your instructor name
    3. and state that you are requesting that your password be reset and sent to you.
       
  2. Log into your college email account, click the Students link

  3. Enter your college userid (i.e. joestudent) in the Log On box, then click where it says "click here"

  4. Fill in the User name as follows  gcccdedu\userid (i.e. gcccdedu\joestudent)
    Enter your college password for the Password box (same as you use for the college/class web site)
    Then click OK

  5. Your Inbox should be displayed

  6. Click on the User Import message to open it

  7. Print this message for future reference
     
  8. Go to the MSDNAA web site and click the Log In button

  9. Enter the MSDNAA Userid (your college email address ending in students.gcccd.net)
    Enter the MSDNAA password emailed to your college email account
    Click Log Me In!

  10. Select Access 2007 from the list of products

  11. Click Add To Cart
    Note:
    You will need to have about 2 times the indicated file size for the download available on your hard drive.
    For Access 2007 you will need about 400MB of free space.

  12. Click I Agree for the software agreement
    Note: You cannot use this software in a business or other commercial application.

  15. Print software order with Serial Number. You will need this number to install the software.

    The serial number listed on this page is an example and will not work for your software

  16. Start the download and select Run.
    This step downloads the downloader which will transfer Access 2007 to your system
    Note:
    You are allowed 2 download attempts

  17. After the downloader completes select Run to start it

  18. You will see this screen when the downloader starts.
    Click Continue to begin the download of Access 2007

  19. You will see the the red progress bar at the bottom of the screen show the download progress

  20. After the file has downloaded then it will be unpacked for installation
    The red progress bar at the bottom of the screen will show the completion of the unpacking

  21. After unpacking then click on Launch Install to begin installing Access on your system.

  22. This will open a window showing the downloaded file.
    You will need to burn a CD and use the CD to install Access 2007.
    In this example I am using ISO Recorder V2.
    If you don't have a similar program then you can ISO Recorder V2.
    It is a free program which is certified to be free of Spyware

  23. If you have problems installing the file or burning a CD it is not necessary to download the file again.
    I recommend you install ISO Recorder V2 and then right click on the file you downloaded to burn a CD.

  24. The software if fully functional and you may keep it on your system after the end of class as long as you abide by the Student Use Guidelines.
